Keeping an Eye on CO₂ Footprint and Sustainability Management: Visit to AWM

The event was led by Dr.-Ing. René Scharn, Managing Director of AWM. As a long-standing expert in the field of CO2 footprints, he presented the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) method and explained its practical application using his company as an example.

During his presentation, he emphasized that climate protection and business success are not contradictory, but rather complementary. Quality leadership and resource efficiency were mutually dependent and could lead to significant competitive advantages.

He also showed how AWM determines, balances and evaluates the CCF.

Tips for practical application

Of particular interest to the participants was the realization that the implementation of a carbon footprint does not necessarily have to be associated with enormous effort. Dr. Scharn gave valuable tips and suggestions on how companies can start with such a balancing or further develop existing processes.

After the presentation and the stimulating discussion round, the participants had the opportunity to ask further practical questions during a tour of the AWM plant and to get an idea of the implementation of sustainability measures directly on site.

The event provided a good platform for professional exchange and showed how a company can assume its responsibility in the face of climate change and be economically successful at the same time.
